Cremation urns

Cremation urns, furneral urns and ashes urns

Funeral urns, cremation urns and ashes urns contain the deceased person’s ashes, and some urns are buried, while others are kept as a lasting memorial. These days, there are a wide range of cremation urns available on the market, and choosing one, or an ash casket, which you are happy with is a uniquely personal choice.

How do I choose an urn? What you need to know before you buy

Dealing with grief and loss maybe one of the most difficult times during life that you will ever face. Deciding how to deal with a loved one’s ashes is a personal decision. Many of our urns allow you to add your own personal touch to celebrate the uniqueness of the life it represents. Urns can offer a lasting memorial, and an ash casket can be a uniquely personal way of ensuring the person you love is never forgotten. Finding a way to honour the deceased’s life and the relationship you had with them can really help the healing process.

Some funeral urns, cremation urns or ashes urns for example, look fairly traditional, but you may prefer an urn or ash casket with a more modern appearance. If you are unsure which urn you would like it may help to look for the urn, keepsake or ash jewel that best reflects your loved ones personality. Not all cremation urns are used to hold ashes, instead, some relatives like to use an ashes urn or ash casket for the safe keeping of a special memory of their loved one, such as a lock of hair, item of jewellery or other special item. If you’re looking for cremation urns or an ash casket, bear in mind they come in various sizes. READ MORE

How much does a cremation urn cost?

Our range is characterized by competitively priced urns made from high-quality materials. Of course, there are also 'more expensive' urns in our range. These are mostly unique or handmade designs made by our artists. They are skillfully designed art objects of which no single urn is the same.

Much attention and time is spent on the design and decoration of our urns. Currently our supplying artists mainly come from high quality European workshops. From Dutch stainless steel handicrafts to Belgium ceramics and from French marble to Italian porcelain, we’re always looking for the most authentic craftsmanship in its domain.

This page explains the price differences in more detail. A standard urn can be engraved with a name, the dates and / or a text. The choice of materials also plays a role in the price. For example, bronze is more expensive as a raw material than metal. In addition, an urn can be painted, placed on an urn base in the garden or in an urn monument in a cemetery. It goes without explanation that a handcrafted urn is more expensive due to the amount of manhours required to complete it. Finally, we explain more about custom made urns. READ MORE

How much ash is left after cremation and what size urn do I need?

If you are planning to use cremation services, it’s important to have a general idea of the amount of ashes remaining after human remains are cremated. The expected volume of the ashes can help you choose an appropriate urn for your loved one and make plans with family members, such as spreading the ashes, sharing urns for loved one’s, or interment in a columbarium at a cemetery.

The average amount of ash left over after the cremation of an adult is about 3 to 3.5 liters or 183 to 213 cubic inches. For a child this will be 0.8 to 2 liters or 54 to 122 cubic inches and for a (premature) baby 0.3 to 0.7 liters or 18 to 43 cubic inches. Your crematorium will always know the exact volume. It is possible to disperse part of the ashes and keep the rest in an urn, cremation ash keepsake urn or piece of memorial jewelry like an ashes pendant. READ MORE

How to fill a funeral or cremation ash urn?

The filling of a funeral urn is considered to be a ritual by many people. It is the last step of the funeral where the relatives bring their deceased loved one’s to the final resting place. The filling of an urn requires a certain degree of accuracy. You are free to choose whether you want to fill the urn yourself or have it done by your funeral director or the crematorium. READ MORE

Where to place the cremation ash urn?

Because there are so many beautiful and unique urns available, you may have difficulty in making the right selection. Before making the ‘final’ decision it must be decided where the ashes of your loved one will be placed. If it is going to be placed at home or in a columbarium niche, what size and shape urn can it accommodate? Will it be interred in your garden, an urn garden, an ashes plot or for example a family grave? Will the urn be placed indoor or outdoor? Does your cemetery or columbarium require a specific type of urn be used? You also may wish to keep a small amount of the ashes in a keepsake urn or item of ash jewelry. These are some of the things you should take into account before you make your selection.

More and more people are taking the ashes home in a temporary container to be able to make a good choice at a later time. As a relative, you can choose between different ways of giving the ashes a good resting place. Most urns and keepsake urns are placed at home. Usually together with a photo and a candle. In this way a special memorial is created. It is also possible to place the urn in your garden. This can be done on a pedestal or in an urn cellar under an urn monument or memorial stone. READ MORE
